2012 Walking Festival

I have updated the Festivals page with the 2012 dates available so far.

Organisers please set your dates and publish them as soon as you can, remember many people have to book their holidays at the start of the year. Last year there were many festival dates that were not set until Easter (and later), I'm sure that early publication of fixed dates enables more people to plan their leave, increasing attendance.

- please check the Events & Festivals page for dates and web links .

If you know of any others please use the contact form to let us know. . .

. . . happy walking.

Please be sensible about walking, check the forecasts, ware and take the appropriate gear, don't cause the rescue teams to put their lives at risk for yours. Please take care around cattle for advice issued by the NFU & The Ramblers click here

Ideas for walks, rambles, days out

There are some general links on the following page - not only for walking but places of interest, nature and some sport / pastimes, the aim of the site is to provide a reference point, to help you find information on and ideas for walks and rambles. We hope this is just as useful to the serious rambler of hill walker as it is for a family day out in the countryside.

Each of the regions then has a page for each of the Counties, on these pages we have tried to add a little more detail as to what is available at each site.

The info and Links

We have collected the info / links from as many authoritative sites as we could, including local authorities, government agencies, charitable organisations, official national bodies, official tourist information organisations and reputable walking sites.

Region pages

On the regional pages you will find links to useful websites - we have tried to make these links direct to walking info, unfortunately pages change without our knowledge and so there may be some broken links. We do try to sweep through on a regular basis to pick them up and get them fixed but if you find one just drop us a line and let us know.
